Private wine tasting in a traditional wine bar
Why booking a wine tasting in Venice, a city on water?
In the city of San Marco wine is definitely more popular than water, even though most of the wines are not produced in the Lagoon. In the old days native grape varieties were imported from Greece, Cyprus, Crete and were grown in the Dalmatian coast, then in the nearby Friuli Venezia-Giulia and eventually in the Veneto. Today those grapes are part of our local heritage and together with the international ones they still increase the reputation of the first wine region in the country!
During the session, your certified Sommelier will help you grasp the way a wine's color, taste, texture and aroma are exemplified in the mouth etching acidity of a steel aged Soave or the smoothness of a Valpolicella Superiore.
Slowly, you will discover the way wine reveals the true spirit of the land it comes from, and how producers are able to develop the potentials of indigenous grapes in order to obtain unique wines.
Like a marriage, food and wine are meant for each other... although the best match is what pleases your palate, you should achieve harmony and balance. We will check whether Venetian appetizers contradict or compliment our wine selection, as far as each of them enhances and stenghtens the experience of the whole.
Besides, your trained specialist will suggest you the stores in the city where to buy good value wines, without sacrificing taste and quality.
The tasting lasts two hours and includes three glasses of Veneto and Friuli Venezia-Giulia Doc –quality- wines, a selection of fresh cheese with vegetables or a dish of mixed homemade appetizers.
Our proposals are designed for both beginners and connoisseurs, and those who long to appreciate the astonishing varieties of the “Nectar of the Gods”...
